Biography

Alana Bean is currently the director of the flute ensemble of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles, and teaches private lessons at her home in St Clair Shores, MI.

She graduated in May 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of Iowa, where she studied flute with Nicole Esposito, earning both high distinction and honors in music. For her Master’s in Music she attended the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she studied flute with Caen Thomason-Redus and Jennifer Clippert. Other teachers include Jeani Foster, Judith Ormond, Linda Chatterton, Polly Meyerding, and Linda Wadsworth.
